Playful Pollinators (ages 3 - 5)
At The Discovery School Day Camp, we provide a nurturing foundation for our youngest campers to thrive, both indoors and out. Campers enjoy a consistent daily routine that encompasses playtime, snack & storytime as well as an outdoor nature adventure. Our playtime includes a daily rotation of specials, such as sensory experiences, creative arts, music and movement, and imaginative play! Next campers head outdoors to enjoy a relaxing picnic snack and storytime. We conclude our day with an outdoor nature adventure to stick village, our sandpit mud kitchen, the fairy house, hummingbirds hideout or our pollinator garden! NOTE: campers must be potty trained to attend camp.

Our older campers have a consistent daily routine that provides a comfortable rhythm amidst the excitement of new friends and experiences. Visiting our five Discovery Stations each day provides our campers opportunities to build independence, discover the wonders of our nature campus, and explore their creativity throughout our full-day, daily routine. We know that social relationships become increasingly important for this age group. Our programming allows opportunity for group bonding and relationship building, as well as friendly competition. Activities are rotated regularly to make sure each day is a new adventure, filled with variety, creativity, and fun!

Whimsical woods is a large wooded area that is home to our outdoor nature theater. This is a magical place where campers may enter the world of mythical creatures through music, song, dance and theater games, often culminating in a child-created performance at the end of the week. Our counselors are trained by theater professionals to support campers with the basics of acting, as well as developing their own scripts, setting and costume design! While plots may be silly and oftentimes take unusual twists and turns, it’s a true joy to see children owning and immersing themselves in this creative experience.
-
Frog Field is a large flat outdoor area perfect for team building activities and all sorts of field games! It also holds our shaded areas, including the hoop house, tetherball court, tire snake, benches, sandpit and rock garden. Through collaborative team building and group games, our campers improve motor skills, gain confidence, as well as make social connections with one another.
-
Camper Crews will pick up prepared lunches and find an area on campus to picnic. This is a good time to cool off, refresh sunscreen, fill the water bottle, and use the bathroom.
-
Spending time at our pond each day is both a calming and exciting sensory experience. Your child will learn to use their senses to become aware of and connect with the natural world. Campers have the opportunity to kayak, try their hand at fishing, climb trees, relax with friends, as well as use nets to explore pond life. We often observe toads, dragonflies, fish, crawfish, geese and non-venomous snakes here throughout the summer months, providing a natural teacher as our campers learn about the pond ecosystem.
-
Our maker space is a catalyst for creative thinking and innovation. In our safe and inspiring environment, campers take risks without the fear of failure and are empowered to see themselves as inventors and creators! A variety of tools, loose parts and creative materials are rotated throughout the summer to inspire creativity and fresh ideas. Our Maker Space provides a great opportunity to cool off, use our imagination, and get creative with friends.
-
Camper Crews will find a shady spot on campus to enjoy a restful snack break. This is a good time to cool off, refresh sunscreen, fill the water bottle, and use the bathroom.

Our special activities take place at our Nature Playground so campers may also explore our tree climbers, play on the swings, try out the slackline, or simply relax in the shade with friends.
